Chuck was born on May 22, 1956 in Akron, Ohio to Dorothy and William McLaughlin. As a child, he loved spending time hunting for snapper turtles with his brothers Bob and Jim, and his father, Bill. At a young age, he learned to play horseshoes and also developed his love for the game of pool. During his elementary years, Chuck moved to Aberdeen. He quickly made life-long friends and became ingrained in the Aberdeen community. Chuck schooled at Henry Neil, Simmons, and graduated from Aberdeen Central in 1974.

At the age of 15, he met the love of his life, Wanda. In her, he saw the mother of his children and a companion for life; they married at age 19. At the time of his death they had been married nearly 40 years. Together, Chuck and Wanda built a wonderful life. They settled down to raise a family near Barnard, SD. They worked hard to establish The Perfect 10, their unique hobby farm of exotic pheasants and other game birds. Their family grew to include three wonderful children: Janel, Nicole, and Jonah. Their family life was focused on love, laughter, and hard work.

From a young age, Chuck had an intense work ethic. During high school, he started working for UPS as a truck washer and as soon as he could, he became a parcel driver. After 17 years with UPS, Chuck made a career change to drywall and painting. He started Mac's Drywall and Painting and later trained his son to continue on the tradition. Chuck was an amazing self-taught artist and he used these skills to create beautiful interiors all over South Dakota.

Chuck was a lover of life and people. He thoroughly enjoyed his time with friends and family and would entertain all with his amusing stories. His laughter was contagious and he was never without a smile on his face. He loved to fish, the outdoors, shooting pool and telling stories. Most of all, Charlie enjoyed helping others. He was always willing to help out friends and communities with projects, even donating work and materials to local non-profit organizations. If you met him, you liked him. If you knew him, you loved him. He will be greatly missed.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Wanda, of Aberdeen and their three children: Janel (Nate) McLaughlin, Nicole (Brandon) Kuhfeld, and Jonah (Leslie) McLaughlin; two grandchildren: Kyle Kuhfeld, and Cody Kuhfeld; brothers: Bob (Loretta) McLaughlin, Jim Crouch, and Bill McLaughlin; and numerous family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy McLaughlin; and sister, Diane Libby.
