Ceniva Kom

Ceniva Kom, 83, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Prairie Heights Healthcare, Aberdeen, SD.

The Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Aberdeen.

Burial will be at Riverside Memorial Cemetery following the service. A time of fellowship and luncheon will follow the burial at the church hall.

Ceniva was born to Clarence and Emilia (Albrecht) Kom on November 16, 1938, in Elgin, ND. She lived there as a young child and when she was five years old, her family moved to Mobridge, SD. Ceniva graduated in 1957 from the Northwestern Lutheran Academy in Mobridge. She then began working for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. She was able to transfer to different cities with Bell Telephone and worked in Denver, Rapid City, Aberdeen, and Sioux Falls. She retired from the Bell Telephone Company in 1987.

Ceniva then moved back to Aberdeen as her parents and some of her siblings now lived in Aberdeen. Ceniva took good care of her parents and especially her mother after her father passed away. Ceniva’s family was very important to her and she especially liked the Kom family reunions held in the summer. Ceniva also liked to bake and cook and brought lots of delicious food to the potlucks held at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Ceniva was a devout member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Her faith was very important to her. She taught Sunday School for many years.

Grateful for having shared Ceniva’s life are her siblings: Harvey (Berniece) Kom of Clarkston, WA, Marlow (Carol) Kom of Woodbury, MN, Reinhart (Delaine) Kom of Big Bend, WI, Donald (Barbara) Kom of Fond du Lac, WI, and Charlene (Bill) Stewart of DePere, WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; and one brother.

In lieu of flowers, Ceniva's family prefers memorials be sent to Trinity Lutheran School, 923 S. Dakota St., Aberdeen, SD.
