Cathryn “Cathy” Carmen Glau was born on June 5, 1967, in Aberdeen, SD, to Rick and Jan (Waldman) Glau. She attended Simmons Elementary and Simmons Junior High, graduating from Aberdeen Central High School with the class of 1985.
Cathy earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Minnesota State University in Moorhead, MN. She then moved to Denver, CO, where she earned her Paralegal Certificate and worked for the Gregory J. Fasing Law Firm for several years. Cathy later moved to Sioux Falls, SD, with her son, Samuel “Sam,” and worked at Sanford Hospital in the Legal and Human Resources Departments for 13 years.
In 2017, Cathy and her son moved to Sarasota, FL, where Cathy’s sister, Rebecca “Becky,” was living at the time. She worked with Morgan & Morgan Law Firm for a time as a paralegal and later moved on to work at MRC Health Services in Bradenton, FL, where she enjoyed working as an Executive Assistant until her passing.
Cathy formed many lasting friendships during her school and working years. She was a loving and giving person, and her family is very proud of how she lived her life and of her accomplishments. She loved her family, friends, and animals, especially her little dog, Ozzie, and her demanding Kitty, Peep. Above all, she cherished her son, Sam. Cathy made many trips back to South Dakota to spend time with family and friends, and she enjoyed the memories made when her family visited her in Florida, especially in the winter, so her dad, Rick, could golf.
Cathy is survived by her beloved son, Sam, of Tampa, FL; mother, Jan Glau of Aberdeen, SD; sister, Becky (Brian) Huff of Plymouth, MN; brother, Mike (Penny) Glau, of Sioux Falls, SD; nephews, Noah Glau and Ian Glau; niece, Emilia “Emi” Huff; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her father, Rick; her grandparents; and several uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
