Carrie J. (Waba) Lang was born on November 3, 1942, to Archie Edward and Dorothy Mae (Vadakin) Waba in Coronado, California.  At a young age, Carried moved with her family to Watertown, SD.  This is the area where she was raised and received her education.  Following graduation from Watertown High School, Carried furthered her education at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD.

Carrie was united in marriage to James John Lang at Henry, SD, on November 28, 1964.  Their union was blessed with two children, Joe and Natasha.  The family made Aberdeen their home for a short time before relocating to Pierre, SD, for Jim’s job.  In 1969, they returned to Aberdeen, where Carrie became employed as a medical transcriptionist with Dakota Midland Hospital and then later at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital.  Following an over 30-year career in the medical field, Carrie retired and began working part-time for Heiser’s Jewelry.  She continued to make Aberdeen her home until the time of her death.

Carrie was very active in her community and spent many hours volunteering with the Aberdeen Zonta Club, St. Luke’s Auxiliary and the Auxiliary Gift Shop at the hospital, NARFE (National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association), Women of the Moose, and the Literacy Council.  In her spare time, Carrie enjoyed traveling, bowling, and baking.  She also found enjoyment spending time at the lake and camping. Above all, Carrie loved her family and especially loved attending her grandkid’s activities.

Blessed to have shared Carrie’s life are her children, Joseph (Sonya) Lang of Britton, SD and Natasha (Keith) Enevoldsen of Brooking, SD; four grandchildren:  Jim Lang, Chad Lang, Abby Enevoldsen and Max Enevoldsen; one brother, David Waba of Blaine, MN; one sister, Sharon (David) Aamold of Watertown, SD; and her dear friends, Mickey Gefre and Jo Tolvstad.
