Carol June (Kuntz) Daly

Carol June Daly, 84, of Columbia, SD, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen.

Her private funeral service, for immediate family only, will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2020, at Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, with Father Andy Thuringer officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen.

Carol June Kuntz was born November 4, 1935, to John Carl and Elizabeth (Krick) Kuntz in Aberdeen, SD.  This is the area where she was raised and attended public schools, graduating from Aberdeen Central High School with the Class of 1954.

Carol was united in marriage to Edward J. Daly in Aberdeen on November 23, 1957.  The couple made their home on the family farm near Columbia, SD.  Carol later became employed with Control Data in Aberdeen and worked there for 19 years until it closed.  Then, she and Edward enjoyed spending winters in Yuma, Arizona.  Carol and Edward raised two children and shared over 41 years of marriage before he passed away on January 4, 1999.  Carol continued to reside on the family farm near Columbia until the time of her death.

Carol’s pride and joy was her only grandson, Ryder.  Carol enjoyed playing Bridge and being a “Red Hatter” (member of the Red Hat Society).  While wintering in Arizona, she especially enjoyed hosting happy hours for her friends.  Carol also loved cooking and baking for others and will be remembered for her delicious butterhorns. Carol was a member of SEAS Catholic Church in Groton.

Grateful for sharing in Carol’s life are her children:  Doug (Kay) Daly of Groton, SD and Lori Daly of Fargo, ND; her grandson, Ryder Daly; and her brother, Don (Midge) Kuntz of Aberdeen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her parents, John Carl and Elizabeth; her brother, Robert Kuntz and her sister, Rita Andree Thompson.
