Carlon Canfield Van Wagner IV was born on June 3, 1954, in Aberdeen, SD, to Carlon C. III and Roberta (Parrott) Van Wagner. He was affectionately known as Bud.

Bud graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1972 and attended trade school in Mitchell, SD. He attended school for culinary arts but later realized he liked to eat, not cook. Bud spent many years working as a machinist at Hub City. While living in St. Paul, MN, he worked at Thomson Reuters. Bud currently worked for Dial-A-Haul in Aberdeen, where he enjoyed friendships with his bosses, his co-workers, and the people on his routes.

In his spare time, Bud loved spending time outdoors, fishing, hunting, and golfing. He had a great sense of humor and was always ready with a story to share. He had a special love for animals, especially dogs and horses.

Bud is survived by his son, Jarami Van Wagner of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter, Lindsay (Mike) Oleson of Aberdeen, SD; siblings, Kathy (Keith) Sprinkel of Aberdeen, SD, Robert (Tonya) Van Wagner of Redfield, SD, and Russell Van Wagner of St. Paul, MN; grandchildren: Destiny, Trinity, Connor, and Brinley; uncle, Marvin Rapp of Texas; cousin, Jean (Sean) Rapp of New Mexico; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; cousin, Steve Rapp; and grandson, Benjamin.

The family would like to send special thanks to Molly and her extended family for keeping Bud in your family; to Tari for making sure Bud was included in family gatherings, he enjoyed them all; to Dean for the lifetime of friendship; to Jim and Brian for the years of golf outings and friendship; and to Molly and Kevyn for taking a "Bud Day" to celebrate their favorite uncle.  He loved you all.
