On Sunday, May 8, 2016, our beautiful daughter, Brittany Cheryl Holzer was called into the arms of her savior, Jesus Christ.
On June 26, 1994, God blessed our lives with a precious baby girl. From the moment Brittany entered the world, she had her mommy's heart, and her daddy wrapped around her little finger. Brittany took on the world with her big brown eyes and her giggle, which brought laughter to everyone around her.
Brittany attended K-12 at Roncalli Catholic Schools. From a young age, her faith began to develop. Brittany's belief in God and her faith thrived at Roncalli. She was active in sports at Roncalli, participating in volleyball and joining her team at the State Volleyball Tournament both her junior and senior years. Brittany also ran track in junior high through high school. She ran in state track meets from 8th grade until her last as a senior. Brittany would carry that baton and run her corners strong, just as she did in her last race to Heaven.
Brittany attended school at both SDSU in Brookings and NSU in Aberdeen before beginning her career at Healthcare Plus Federal Credit Union. She thrived at her job and blessed the lives of many. She loved her co-workers and the customers she served. Brittany's goal in life was to help people, even people she didn't know. She had a way of making those she barely knew feel like they have known her all of their lives.
Brittany was an ambitious project-starter who could just never seem to finish what she started. A dear friend made the observation that Brittany was only trying to get as much in as she possibly could in her short time on Earth. She is fondly remembered as leaving a path of clothes, shoes, and anything else on the floor behind her. Now we know that in those chaotic paths is where she was building her path to Heaven.
Brittany treasured her friendships and was always ready to go on an adventure. From riding 4-wheelers to doing flips on trampolines, she made the most of every single friendship.
Family was Brittany's passion. Her family meant everything to her and she made that very apparent. She loved spending time with her grandparents and was blessed to have had the chance to spend so much time with them. Brittany learned their values of having true, kind, hearts and carried their integrity with her. Her two brothers were her world and she made sure they knew how much she believed in and loved them.
Brittany leaves behind her parents, Scott and Tanya; her brothers, Layne and Eric; her precious little dog, Sadie; her grandparents: Karl and Neoma Richter of Enning, SD and Kasmer and Arlene Holzer of Black Hawk, SD; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins whom she loved so much. She is also survived by the love of her life, Tyler Sumption of Frederick, SD. He was her rock and her world.
Brittany was preceded in death by her great-grandparents; her four-month old cousin, Espyn; and her aunt and namesake, Cheryl Rohl.
Brittany left so much behind her on Earth in her short life, but we know God needed her more in Heaven. She is now a beautiful guardian angel who is living on in every life she touched. She is finally able to take care of everyone from one place, her beautiful throne in Heaven. Her memory will live on in us all and we will keep her spirit alive.
Our sweet, precious, angel, spread those beautiful wings and carry the pieces of our hearts that left with you. Peace, until that glorious day when we are united baby girl. We love you.
