Brian Lee Bauer, 68, of Aberdeen, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019, at his home. His wishes were to be cremated.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen.

Burial will take place at a later date.

Visitation at the mortuary will be 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, and one hour before the service on Thursday.

Brian Lee Bauer was born May 29, 1950, to Fred and Tillie (Moser) Bauer in Mobridge, SD.  He was raised and attended school in Herreid, SD, graduating from Herreid High School with the Class of 1968.  Brian furthered his education at Northern State College in Aberdeen, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1972.

Brian was united in marriage to Elaine Scherr in Rapid City, SD on June 25, 1988.    The couple made their home in Pierre, SD, where Brian was employed with the Department of Transportation and then the Department of Education until 1996, before they relocated to Bismarck, ND.  In 2000, the family moved to Aberdeen, where Brian worked for the Department of Labor until June of 2015, at which time he retired following a 27-year career with the State of South Dakota.  He continued to reside in Aberdeen until the time of his death.

Brian loved sports, especially the New York Yankees.  He was also a fan of the Aberdeen Golden Eagles and volunteered many hours working at all their sporting events.  Brian also enjoyed collecting coins and sports memorabilia.  Family and friends were very important to Brian.  He often reached out to loved ones with phone calls and visits.  Above all, Brian loved his wife, daughters, and especially his sweet grandbaby with his whole heart.

Grateful to have shared Brian’s life is his wife of 30 years, Elaine Bauer; his daughters, Brittany (Paul) Conklin and Bridgette Bauer; his granddaughter, Thea Rose; and sister, Linda (Dale) Joneson.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents.
