Brenda Kay Van Heerde, 66, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023, surrounded by her family in her final days.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Schriver’s Memorial Chapel at 6 p.m., with visitation from 4-6 p.m. before the service.

Brenda Kay Moulton was born on August 30, 1957, in Aberdeen, SD, to Theodore and Ruth (Gross) Moulton. Brenda was an only child and was raised in Aberdeen. She attended Henry Neil Elementary and Simmons Junior High and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1975. Brenda married Dale McCrea, Sr. on January 2, 1974. They were blessed with two children, Dawn and Dale.
Brenda married Dennis Van Heerde on August 2, 1986. The couple was blessed with one daughter, Andrea. She worked a variety of different jobs throughout her life, making many friends along the way. She enjoyed helping and working with people. She loved being surrounded by her entire family, especially her grandchildren. Brenda made friends all over, especially by playing online games. She loved to play Scrabble and Candy Crush. Brenda also enjoyed being outside on the deck, sitting by the fire and loved to be out on the boat with friends and family. Brenda will be deeply missed and loved by her family, many friends, and former co-workers.
Grateful for having shared Brenda’s life is her husband, Dennis, of 37 years; three children: Dawn (Troy) Syhre of Brookings, SD, Dale (Angela) McCrea Jr. of Glencoe, MN, and Andrea (Luke) Heupel of Aberdeen, SD; 13 grandchildren: Elizabeth Syhre, Torsten Van Heerde, Myranda Syhre, Landen Van Heerde, Dale McCrea III, Adrian Heupel, Alyssa Heupel, Abby Syhre, Isabelle McCrea, Hayley McCrea, Ethan McCrea, Liam McCrea, and Cullen McCrea; two uncles: William (Lou) Gross, and Kenneth (Estelle) Moulton; and several cousins.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Ruth; her grandparents, Paul and Margaret (Decker) Gross, Clarence and AnnaMarie (Gunderson) Moulton; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Brenda’s honorary urnbearers will be her beloved 13 grandchildren.
