Betty N. Huettl, 87, of Aberdeen, formerly of Westport, SD, passed away at Avera Mother Joseph Manor on Saturday, July 19, 2025.

A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with Pastor Matt Spoden officiating.

A time for fellowship and luncheon will follow the service at the church hall.

Private Family Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Westport.

There will be a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, at Schriver's Memorial Chapel, with visitation following until 6:00 p.m. Visitation continues one hour before the service.

The family requests casual attire and to wear any Minnesota sports team attire.

Betty Norma Bonnet was born on August 13, 1937, to Jacob and Emilia Bonnet in McPherson County. Betty grew up in the Leola area and moved to Aberdeen, SD, where she met Joseph Huettl Jr.

She worked in a café in Aberdeen, the Rosebud Bar, The Shed in Westport, SD, and Super 8 Motels in Aberdeen, SD. While working at Super 8, she won the local bed-making contest and went on to participate in the national contest in Minneapolis, MN.

Betty married Joseph, and they made their home on the family farm near Columbia, SD. In 1972, they moved to Westport. Betty’s hobbies included reading, playing dice and cards, bingo, puzzles, and cross-stitch. Betty was an avid fan of all Minnesota sports teams, including the Vikings, Twins, Wild, Lynx, Timberwolves, and Gophers.

Her greatest accomplishments were raising her 12 children and staying involved in their activities, as well as her grandchildren’s. She even played on her daughters’ softball team when they were short a player. Betty was a strong mother and role model for her children, and she was a lung cancer survivor.

Survivors include her children: Deb K. (Dan) Schlosser of Westport, SD, Dawayne “Dewey” (Paula) Huettl of Aberdeen, SD, Dan Huettl of Aberdeen, SD, Cheri Harms of Lennox, IA, Carla (Kevin) Klovstad of Aberdeen, SD, Scott Huettl, of Aberdeen, SD, Steven (JoEllen) Huettl of Aberdeen, SD, James Huettl of Aberdeen, SD, Sandra (Joel) Hoistad of Hugo, MN, Randy Huettl of Aberdeen, SD, and Tammy (Jeff) Osborn of Norway, IA; 15 grandchildren: David Schlosser, Brian Schlosser, Sharee Burgess, Stephanie Gruenstein, Samantha Kester, Rebecca Chavis, Jordan Huettl, Trent Huettl, Summer Huettl, Braxten Hoistad, ArieOnna Hoistad, Rhiannon Peterson, Noah Osborn, Raechel Osborn, and Emma Osborn; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Deloris Jung of Aberdeen, SD, and Ginny DeWald of Franklin, WI.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Emilia; husband, Joseph “Joe,” in 2007; one daughter, Lynn Marie Huettl; and 11 siblings.
