Berniece A. Hof, 91, of Aberdeen, passed away Monday, December 1, 2014, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen.
Her funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 6, 2014, at Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, with Father J. Joseph Holzhauser officiating.
Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen.
A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow the burial at Schriver's Memorial Fellowship Center.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, and one hour before the service on Saturday, all at the mortuary.
Berniece Annette Sonnenfeld was born on February 21, 1923, in Hosmer, SD, to Emil and Karolina (Hertel) Sonnenfeld. This is the area where she was raised, attended school, and graduated from high school.
Berniece was united in marriage to Frank Xavier Brand on June 28, 1945. Their union was blessed with two sons, Thomas and Richard. The couple shared ten years of marriage before he passed away on September 5, 1955. Berniece made Aberdeen her home and was employed as a custodian with the Aberdeen School District at Simmons Jr. High School for several years. She became a resident of Avera Mother Joseph Manor Retirement Community in 2001 and continued to reside there until the time of her death.
Blessed to have shared in Berniece's life are her sons: Thomas Lee Brand of Azuza, CA, and Richard Ray (Debbie) Brand of Philomath, OR; two grandchildren: Kristina Rae Case of Corvallis, OR and Robert Andrew Brand of Philomath OR; and two great-grandchildren: Mason Brand and Leah Case.
Berniece's parents, husband, and five brothers preceded her in death.
