Barbara "Barb" Claire (Zerr) Howell was born to Joseph "Blackie" and Rose (Goetz) Zerr on February 25, 1951, in Aberdeen, SD.
She married James "Jim" Howell on January 17, 1981. They made their home in Aberdeen.
Barb greeted customers and friends with a warm smile for 42 years at Kessler's.
She spent many days with her grandchildren at Storybook Land and loved quiet mornings drinking coffee in her favorite chair or on the patio enjoying her flowers. Hosting Christmas Eve was something that she looked forward to all year long. Barb was the happiest when she was making memories with her family.
Grateful to have shared in Barb's life are her husband; her children: Cory Hook of Las Vegas, NV, Kari (Paul) Comes of Rapid City, SD, and Nikolas J. Howell of Aberdeen, SD; her grandchildren: Clinton Wendt, Hailey Underwood, Claire Comes, Aubrie Comes, and Jaidyn Howell; her siblings: Terry (Bonnie) Zerr, Corinne (Don) Jacobson, Mark (Teri) Zerr, Rose (Don) Nash, Joe (Tami) Zerr, and Camille (Joe) Fischer; and many nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
Barb was preceded in death by grandparents, parents, aunts, and uncles.
Barb's family would like to thank each of you for the kind words, thoughts, and prayers. Barb would encourage you to enjoy every moment. Take time to look at the people close to you in the eyes when you talk. Don't be afraid to give them a hug when you see them or when you say goodbye. Let them know how much you appreciate them. Tell them you love them every opportunity that you can.
We are so blessed to say that Barb was our wife, mother, sister, grandma, aunt, and the best friend we could have asked for. We are grateful for each and every moment we shared with her.
