Audrey Lou Hammer was born in Britton, SD, on June 11, 1932, to Henry and Lucille (LaMee) Hammer. She attended school in Britton and Bath, SD.

Audrey was united in marriage to Theodore Gottlieb Schlichenmayer on November 9, 1949, in Britton, SD. To this marriage, two sons: Cleo and Ted Jr., and two daughters: Kathy and Kim were born. The family made Aberdeen their home, where Audrey was employed with the A & W Drive Inn and as a Nurses Aide at St. Luke's Hospital. In the early 60s she took over running the lunch counter at the Professional Arts Pharmacy. A few years later she accepted a job at the new Dakota Midland Hospital as the Surgical Secretary. Prior to retiring, she operated both restaurants at the South & West Sale Barns. Following retirement, she moved to Whitlock Crossing west of Gettysburg, SD, where she and Ted enjoyed living at their home and fishing the Missouri River. Following Ted's passing in 1986, she moved to Washburn, ND, and managed the Scottwood Motel. Audrey finally permanently retired and lived in Riverdale, ND, before eventually returning to Aberdeen. For the last four years of her life she was a resident of Sturgis Regional Long-Term Healthcare facility in Sturgis SD.

Audrey was a long-time member of Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, the Aberdeen Women of the Moose, and Royal Neighbors.

Audrey's love of her family and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was foremost in her life. In the early years, the family enjoyed numerous camping and fishing trips with family and friends. She was also an avid gardener and an excellent cook.

We were blessed to share her life with her and she will be missed greatly.

Surviving Audrey are her children: Cleo (Kathy Fredenberg) Schlichenmayer of Appleton, WI, Kathy (Roger) Johnson of Sturgis, SD, Kim Bell (fiancAC. Ron Wynia) of Rapid City, SD, and Ted (Lana Ablin) Schlichenmayer of Huron, SD; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Audrey's parents, Henry & Lucille (LaMee) Hammer, her husband, Ted, her sister, Donna Kraft, and grandson, Shane Allen Bell, preceded her in death.
