Armond Adam Schopp, 96, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away, Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen. The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary Chapel, Aberdeen with Pastor Heidi Youngquist of Bethlehem Lutheran Church officiating. The burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. A time of fellowship and luncheon will follow the burial at Schriver’s Memorial Fellowship Center. Visitation is 5-7 p.m., Friday, January 28, 2022, at the mortuary with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation continues one hour before the service at the chapel on Saturday. Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements. Armond Adam Schopp was born January 2, 1926, in Plevna, Montana, to Adam and Lydia (Kraft) Schopp. At the age of four, his mother passed away. His father remarried Anna Singer, who raised him. Armond grew up near Plevna and attended Fallon County Public Schools. Armond met the love of his life Mavis Arlene Olson and they were united in marriage on June 21, 1951, in Wing, North Dakota. They resided in Baker, MT where he was a great rancher and truck driver until the family made a big move to Aberdeen in 1960. Armond started driving trucks hauling cattle and later owned his own trucks while managing several transportation companies until 1998. Mavis passed away on February 7th, 2009 and Armond continued to make Aberdeen his home. Armond had a passion for carpentry and could handle just about any project that was thrown his way. Armond and Mavis loved working in their large vegetable garden. Armond enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Armond also loved watching rodeos on TV especially the bull-riding events. Armond was great at telling stories to his grandchildren and loved attending any events they would have. Armond is survived by his daughters: Janet (James) Weismantel of Aberdeen, SD, Melanie (Craig) Fischer of Aberdeen, SD, and Sharrie Schopp of Greeley, CO; his son: Justin (Carla) Schopp of Aberdeen, SD; his sisters: Irene Householder Prattes of Pocatello, ID, Shirley Schopp of Sioux City, IA, and Eleanor (Dave) Plummer of Hot Springs, SD; nine grandchildren: Casey (Kelly), Carl (Kandi), Ashley, Travis, Jordan (Lindsey), Trent (Julia), Lane, Bailee, and Kyleigh; eleven great-grandchildren: Paige, Abby, Hailey, Isaac, Corbin, Kiera, Kaiden, Kaylen, Ryder, and Quinn. Armond was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother; his wife; and his two brothers: Raymond and Jacob.
