Annie Imberi was born October 18, 1925, to Peter and Katherine (Hilsindeger) Imberi in Hillsview, SD.  This is the area where she was raised and attended rural schools.  At a young age, Annie moved with her family to Aberdeen.  When she was older, she was employed in the housekeeping department at St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen for a short period of time.

Annie was united in marriage to Michael Hartze on February 28, 1949, in Aberdeen.  The couple made their home on a farm near Ipswich, SD and later moved NW of Richmond Lake.  In 1966, they moved into Aberdeen.  Annie and Michael raised six children and shared over 35 years of marriage before he passed away in October of 1984.  She continued to reside in Aberdeen until the time of her death.

Some of Annie’s favorite activities were traveling, dancing, and working on the farm.  She especially loved spending time with her family and taking care of her grandkids.

Blessed to have shared in Annie’s life are her children:  Lana Thompson, Lawrence (Gloria) Hartze, Loretta Hartze, Leo (Marianne) Hartze and Laura (Wes) Job; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael; one son, Leonard; one infant great-grandson, Russell; her parents; five brothers; and six sisters.

Annie’s family wishes to extend a special note of appreciation to Dr. Wachs and the entire staff of Avera Mother Joseph Manor for the excellent care and compassion shown to her.
