Anna Elizabeth (Heier) Kolasch

Anna E. Kolasch, 81, of Aberdeen, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen.

Mass of Christian burial has been rescheduled to 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 22, 2021 , at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 409 2nd Avenue NE, Aberdeen, with Father Michael Griffin, Celebrant.

Burial follows at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen.

Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be 4-5 p.m., Sunday, February 21, 2021 , at the mortuary, with a liturgical wake service beginning at 5:00 p.m.  Visitation continues one hour prior to Mass at the church on Monday.

Anna E. Heier was born October 22, 1939, to John and Julia (Harty) Heier in Hosmer, SD. This is the area where she was raised and attended country school.  Anna moved to Aberdeen in 1952 and began working at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Anna was united in marriage to John Rombs, Jr. on November 11, 1957, in Aberdeen and to this union two children were born.  Anna continued what would become a 25-year career working in the Dietary Department of St. Luke’s and later was employed at Aberdeen Health and Rehab, where she remained until her retirement in 2011.  She continued to reside in Aberdeen until the time of her death.

In her free time, Anna enjoyed baking for her family.  She also loved gardening and, in the fall, canning its abundant produce.  Anna loved music and especially enjoyed listening to Polkas and Waltzes.  Above all, she loved her family and always looked forward to attending her grandchildren’s school programs and birthday parties.

Blessed to have shared Anna’s life is her daughter, Peggy Gruenstein of Aberdeen; her daughter-in-law, Sheila Rombs of Aberdeen; six grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her siblings:  Albert (Katherine) Heier and Eugene (Betty) Heier, both of Aberdeen, Larry (Kora) Heier of Oakes, ND, and Lorenzia (Steve Sr.) Oakes, and Regina (Carroll) Reis, both of Aberdeen.

Anna was preceded in death by her son, Chuck; her son-in-law, John Gruenstein; her parents, John and Julia; one brother, Leo Heier; one sister, Katie Kapperman; and one great-great-granddaughter, Marley Norton.
