Andrew J. "Shine" Fischer, 89, of Aberdeen, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015, at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 409 2nd Avenue NE, Aberdeen, with Father J. Joseph Holzhauser, Celebrant. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Monday at the mortuary, followed by a Liturgical Wake Service at 7 p.m. Visitation continues one hour prior to Mass at church on Tuesday.
Andrew Fischer was born March 9, 1925, in Linton, ND to John A. and Magdalena (Feist) Fischer. He attended school in Eagle Butte and then started working at the Sunshine Grocery Store, where he got the nick name "Shine".
He moved to Aberdeen in 1945 where he was employed with Nash Finch Company. Andy enjoyed bowling several nights a week at the King Pin Bowling Alley in Aberdeen. This is where he met Mary Ann Darling Brady. Andy and Mary Ann were united in marriage on May 14, 1955 at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
In 1964 he started his own farm and ranch near Aberdeen. Along with bowling, Andy also enjoyed flying, listening and dancing to Lawrence Welk's music. Andy's pride and joy was his Model T, which he enjoyed giving his kids a ride in.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Leo and Max, two sisters, Eva Bringman and Irene Hanson .
Blessed to have shared Andy's life are his sons, Dan (Carmen) Fischer of Aberdeen, Jim (Janet) Fischer of Pelican Rapids, MN, his daughters, Charlotte Burgard of Aberdeen, Julie (Kerry) Wilson of Westport, SD, Evelyn (Mike) Johnson of Aberdeen, Denise (Dan) Bahmuller of Spearfish, SD, Annie (Pat) Hoerner of Aberdeen, Maggie (Roy) Torres of Aberdeen, Cathy (Lonnie) Bales of Redfield, SD, Margie (Tim) Friddle of Phoenix, AZ, Cindy (Mike) Shorley of Aberdeen, one sister, Mary (Jim) Olson of Aberdeen, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
