Andrew "Andy" A. Gisi, 73, of Aberdeen, SD, peacefully passed away Friday, April 24, 2015, at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 409 3rd Avenue SE, Aberdeen with Father Melvin Kuhn, Celebrant.
Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery immediately following mass.
Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen is handling arrangements. Friends may sign his online guestbook at www.schriversmemorial.com.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday at Schriver's with a Liturgical Wake Service starting at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at Sacred Heart Church one hour prior to Mass on Wednesday.
Andrew A. Gisi was born October 16, 1941 to Andrew Sr. and Caroline (Schoch) Gisi in Hosmer, SD. Andy was raised, attended and graduated school in Hosmer.
Andy was united in marriage to Lois Spiering at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Bristol, SD on June 19, 1965. Their union was blessed with five children. The family made their home in Aberdeen. Andy worked for Hartung Construction for several years before becoming employed with South Dakota Wheat Growers, where he remained until the time of his retirement in 2006. Andy was known for his loyalty and quality of work.
Andy was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Loyal Order of the Moose and a former member of the Elks Lodge #1046 in Aberdeen. He enjoyed watching local high school and college basketball teams, playing softball, bowling and dealing cards. Andy maintained a contractor's license which he used for servicing independent grain elevators. Andy was a craftsman and had a large collection of tools. He was also an avid coin collector. Andy's greatest happiness was spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.
Grateful to have shared Andy's life is his wife of nearly 50 years, Lois Gisi of Aberdeen; one son, Tim (Shawna) Gisi of Aberdeen; three daughters: Tami (Dallas) Keller of Yankton, SD, Tonia (Greg) Poirier and Tracy (Tim) Salwei, both of Rogers, MN; nine grandchildren: Ashley & Alexis Gisi, Landon and Lukas Treftz, Lainie Keller, McKade and Morgan Poirier and Adam and Addi Salwei; and two sisters: Katy Burrer of Hosmer, SD and Frances Grabowski of Zimmerman, MN.
Andy is preceded in death by one son, Troy; one granddaughter; his parents; five brothers and seven sisters.
