Amy Lynn (Gruenstein) Blazer

Amy Lynn Blazer, 61, of Aberdeen, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen.

Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2020, at Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, with Pastor Craig Bostian, of Zion Christian Fellowship, officiating.

Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen.

Visitation at the mortuary will be 4-6 p.m., Monday, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Amy Lynn Gruenstein was born August 22, 1958 to Ambrose and Sally (Pfieffer) Gruenstein in Aberdeen, where she was raised and attended school, graduating from Aberdeen Central High School with the Class of 1976.

Following graduation, Amy began working at Lu’s Pizza in Aberdeen, which briefly took her to Las Vegas when they opened a sandwich shop for Lu. Upon returning to Aberdeen, Amy was employed at Papa’s Pizza, Midcom, DSG, and Banner Engineering. In 1989, she gave birth to her son, Nick, who was her pride and joy. Amy worked tirelessly and sacrificed much as a single parent to make sure he never wanted for anything. She and Nick made their home in Aberdeen, where she continued to reside until the time of her death.

In her spare time, Amy enjoyed reading, attending plays at the Capitol Theatre, and traveling with her aunt, Cassie Freeman. She was an extremely well-organized woman who will be remembered as a wonderful mother, hard worker, good teacher, and very selfless person.

Grateful for sharing in Amy’s life is her son, Nick Blazer; brother, Wayne Gruenstein; and sister, Nancy Schell.

Amy is preceded in death by her parents, Ambrose and Sally Gruenstein; her brother, Mark Gruenstein; and her sister, Patsy Gruenstein.
