Ali was born on December 16, 1971, in Cardiff, Wales. Ali went to school in Cardiff, taking a special interest in art history. When Ali was passionate about something, she seemed to have endless knowledge about the subject, especially art and music. Listening to the radio or going to an art museum with Ali was an educational experience every time.
On April 20, 2023, Alison married Stephanie Nelson in Aberdeen, South Dakota, after Ali made the brave decision to relocate to the US for love. Steph & Ali fueled their marriage with their deep friendship and genuine love for one another.
Animals meant everything to Ali. If a lost pet needed to find their way home or a neighbor needed a dog walker, Ali was always there. Ali often preferred the company of animals over people, but she attracted both like a magnet with her sunny disposition and caring personality.
Ali was radiant and full of optimism, but she wasn’t afraid to stand up for herself or the people she loved. Ali was a feminist and a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, and also fought for the rights of any other vulnerable group of people. Her activism wasn’t out of self-interest, but out of love for anyone or anything who had to suffer. She was painfully empathetic to those around her.
She brought joy to everyone who knew her, and her loss will be felt around the world.
Alison is survived by her wife, Stephanie Nelson; her father, Anthony Hill; her brothers, Jonathan (Siân) Hill and Martin (Tracy) Hill; her niece, Molly Hill; her nephew, Elliott Hill; her great-niece, Eira Hill; her parents-in-law, Mark (Jolaine) Nelson; brother-in-law, Brian Nelson; and her beloved cats, Flo, Lilly, and Rosie.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Hill; and her nephew, Oliver Hill.
