Alice Rose Hatzenbeller Gese, surrounded by her loving family, left peacefully to be with the Lord on March 21, 2014.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, at Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary, with a Liturgical Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues for one hour prior to Mass at church on Wednesday.
Alice was born on January 25, 1924, to Phillip and Philomena (Werner) Hatzenbeller. She attended St. Mary’s Parochial School and Graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in1942.
Alice was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, but the love of her life showed up when Bill Gese knocked on her door looking for her brother and she answered. Love at first sight, we aren’t sure, but forever, that we know.
On June 30, 1945, they were married and danced through life for 65 years. Together they raised seven children. The family made their home in Aberdeen, Agar, Mellette, and Mina Lake, before returning to Aberdeen.
Alice was a passionate woman who loved life. She enjoyed tap dancing, music, gardening, and family events. Alice taught her family to live in faith and love and to understand that the things that are important in life are not “things”, but people. Her love of life was often expressed by this statement, “I would do it all over again if I could”.
Joyful that Alice and Bill are together again forever are their children: Ginger (Richard) Westra, Linda (Bob) Fahlin, Bill Jr. (Pam) Gese, Marolyn (Pete) Burckhard, J.J. Gese, Mike (Brenda) Gese, and Barb (Dave) Sorenson; 19 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Alice Rose was welcomed home by her husband, Bill; daughter, Linda; her parents, and all her brothers and sisters.
Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements. Friends may sign her online guestbook at schriversmemorial.com.
