Alene Mae (Stenseth) Hilsendeger

Alene Mae Hilsendeger, 92, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.

Memorial Service is 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, Aberdeen.

Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the mortuary.

Burial is at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Aberdeen.

A time of fellowship and luncheon will be held after the burial at Schriver’s Memorial Fellowship Center.

Alene Mae Stenseth was born December 3, 1928 to Norman and Edna (Anderson) Stenseth in rural Harding County, SD.  At the age of 8, Alene’s family moved to Aberdeen where she attended school and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1946.  Alene married Bernard Hilsendeger in 1951 and to this union they had seven children. After Bernard passed away in 1975, Alene dedicated her life to raising her children.

Alene spent 30 years volunteering at Roncalli Nearly New.  She made many great memories and friends while there.  In her spare time Alene enjoyed traveling, doing crossword puzzles, and playing trivia.  Alene had a very kind soul and her kids and family meant everything to her.

Grateful for having shared Alene’s life are her children: Thomas (Marcia) Hilsendeger of Bath, Ronald (Rhonda) Hilsendeger of Aberdeen, JoAnn Carey of Eagan, MN, Mary (James) Gitzen of Blaine, MN, and Susan (Rick) Jacobson of Aberdeen; twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and sister, Gladys Beals of Grand Junction, CO.

Alene was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sons (one in infancy), two sisters and one brother.
