Albert "Al" G. Mitchener, Jr., 81, of Aberdeen, passed away Friday, October 25, 2013, at Aberdeen Health and Rehab.

Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 31, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, 502 South Lincoln St., Aberdeen with Pastor Tom Haggar officiating.

Albert's wishes were to be cremated with burial taking place at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen and Military Rites being conducted by the Sidney L. Smith American Legion Post #24 of Aberdeen.

Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements. Friends may sign his online guestbook at www.schriversmemorial.com.

No visitation will be held.

Memorials are preferred to the Aberdeen Area Humane Society.

Albert G. Mitchener, Jr. was born on March 8, 1932, in Uniontown, PA to Marion (Nevergold) and Albert G. Mitchener Sr.

Following high school graduation, Albert entered the United States Army and also served his country in the United States Navy and Marine Corp for seven years. He received his Honorable Discharge in 1956.

Albert was united in marriage to Beverly Behm at Rocky River, Ohio in 1956. Their union was blessed with three children, Lynne (Tom) Trochlil of Rhinelander, WI, James Mitchener of Aberdeen, SD and Kathleen (Joseph) Batch of Chaska, MN. The family made their home in Boston, MA, where Albert was employed at Boston Gear. In September of 1986 they moved to Aberdeen and Albert began his career with Hub City Incorporated, where he worked until 1994.

Albert was very active in the Sertoma Club and in the Moccasin Creek Country Club, where he served as President. He was also an avid supporter of the Aberdeen Area Humane Society. In his spare time, Albert enjoyed traveling and woodworking.

In addition to his wife and children, Albert is survived by seven grandchildren: Steven, Leslie and Kimberly Trochlil, Lauren and Megan Mitchener and Cody and Kyle Batch.

Albert's parents preceded him in death.
