Marlene J. Leighty

Marlene J. Leighty, 83, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Angelhaus, Aberdeen.

A joint Funeral Servie for Marlene and her husband Ronald will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Schriver’s Memorial Chapel, Aberdeen.

Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Aberdeen.

Marlene J. Lacher was born on December 30, 1937 in Zeeland, ND, to Ben and Bertha (Heupel) Lacher.  Marlene married Ronald A. Leighty on November 26, 1955 in Aberdeen, SD.  She was employed for over 30 years at the South Dakota Department of Labor in the Unemployment Insurance Division.

She was a member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and was a wonderful cook.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald who is residing at the Minneapolis Veterans Home; her daughter, LeAnn (Leif) Petersen of Circle Pines, MN; her grandchildren, Britta of Denver, CO and Kai of Minneapolis, MN; and her brother, Bruce (Sandi) Lacher of Princeton, MN.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Marcella “Sally” McNeary, and her brothers, Bernard and Dennis Lacher.
