Willis Floyd Heiser was born September 8, 1926, to Edward and Pauline K. (Lutz) Heiser in Greenway, SD.  He attended school in the Greenway area and later helped on the family farm.

Willis entered the United States Army and was sent to Germany just as the war was ending.  He was then sent to serve in the Korean War.  After receiving his Honorable Discharge, Willis returned to Aberdeen.

He then attended barber school in Fargo, North Dakota before returning to Aberdeen, where he worked at the Capital Barber Shop on Main Street for many years until the shop closed.  Willis later became a custodian at the Brown County courthouse, where he remained working until the time of his retirement.

Willis was united in marriage to Anna Haberman on October 24, 1977, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aberdeen.  The couple shared 33 years of marriage before she passed away in 2010.  He continued to make Aberdeen his home.

Willis loved spending time outdoors fishing and tending to his large garden and yard.  He also enjoyed woodworking and spent countless hours “tinkering” in his shop.  Willis loved sports and was an avid Minnesota Twins and Timberwolves fan.  Closer to home, he enjoyed the sport of bowling and bowled on leagues for many years.  Before Anna passed away, Willis enjoyed traveling with her and especially loved babysitting the grandchildren and great-grandchildren together.

Willis is survived by two step-daughters, Karen Horn of Belle Fourche, SD and Norma (Leroy) Scott of Highmore, SD; six step-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Emma Heiser of Aberdeen; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Willis in death is his wife, Anna; his parents, Edward and Pauline; two brothers, Salvador and Marvin; and two sisters, Marian and Dorothy.

Willis’ family wishes to thank the entire staff of the Faulkton Living Center and the Faulkton Area Medical Center for the wonderful care given to Willis and the compassion shown to him and his family.
