Ruzell Davis, Jr.

Ruzell Davis, Jr., 71, of Aberdeen, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen.

His wishes were to be cremated with no formal services being held at this time.

Interment of his cremated remains will take place in West Chester, CA, at a later date.

Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.

Ruzell Davis, Jr. was born March 1, 1948 to Ruzell Davis, Sr. and Abby (Booker) Davis.  He was the oldest of 22 children, including: Willie Davis, Sr., Jon Davis, James Davis, Doris Davis, and Michelle Davis.

Ruzell was married to Margaret (Jones) Partridge Davis until she departed in February 1996.  

During his working life, Ruzell worked for Mattel and also Sansui Electronics and was able to travel to Japan, Germany, and various other places until ill health led him to early retirement.  He was most recently employed by S.O.A. Security until the time of his death.

In his spare time, Ruzell enjoyed fishing, doing word-search puzzles, and playing Bingo, both at the Bingo Hall and on his tablet.  He also liked going to casinos and sometimes taking road trips just to look at the country side.  Ruzell had an interest in vintage cars and enjoyed sports, especially boxing, baseball, and football.  One of his most favorite things to do was enjoy his morning coffee while listening to Jazz and Blues music. 

Ruzell was a step-father to:  Lois (Partridge) Cowart, Nina Partridge, Michael Partridge, Ronald Partridge, and Neal Partridge.  Ruzell’s grandchildren include: Antonio and Ann Partridge, whom he resided with in recent years and were his caregivers; Shehana Anderson and family; and Miesha Mann and family.  He had many great-grandchildren as well, including:  Dijonna Taylor, Shayla Partridge, Channelle Partridge, Brian Partridge, and Aanyah Partridge, Ciarra Barnhardt and partner, Nico Sartwell, Garret and Ashly Barnhardt, Adam Barnhardt, Darryn and Shelby Barnhardt. Ruzell was also a great-great-grandfather to:  Nicole Sartwell, Aria Sartwell, Anthony Sartwell, Oscar Sartwell, Sophie Barnhardt, Abby Wise, Nikita Partridge, Cassandra Archer, Toby Archer, Jason Criswell, Lexi Criswell, Tyson Criswell and Gaberiel White.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and special friends which he considered family:  Landen Rencountre and Romain Accellus, Louis Moore and family, Shampon Beechum & family, Phillip Beechum and family, Carol Perkins and family, John (Grandpa #2), Rett Sartwell and Barry Rose.
