Merle G. Bomesberger, 84, of Aberdeen, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2019, at Aberdeen Health and Rehab.
His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 19, 2019, at Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, with Pastor Kevin Bergeson of Bethlehem Lutheran Church officiating.
A luncheon and time of fellowship will immediately follow the service at Schriver’s Memorial Fellowship Center.
Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen.
Visitation at the mortuary will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, and one hour before the service on Saturday.

Merle G. Bomesberger was born September 20, 1935, to Gustav and Sadie (Martz) Bomesberger in Bowdle, SD. He attended elementary school in Bowdle until age 7, when the family moved to Portland, Oregon in 1942. Following WWII, the family returned to Bowdle in 1946, where Merle completed elementary school and then secondary school in 1953.
Merle married Darlene Artz on February 7, 1959. They moved to Aberdeen. Merle began a career in Education by enrolling at Northern State Teacher’s College and teaching at country schools in Edmunds County for four years. After obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Public School Administration, he was employed for over 40 years in the Northwestern School District as a teacher and principal.
Merle enjoyed hunting, fishing, yard work, and reading. After retirement he continued to make his home in Aberdeen.
Merle is survived by one son, Blake L. (Jennifer) Bomesberger of Aberdeen; one daughter, Margo (Kevin) Bakke of Aberdeen; two grandchildren, Alexis and Evan Bomesberger of Aberdeen; and one brother, Curtis (Ardith) Bomesberger of Rapid City, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
