Watching the service this afternoon was a bitter sweet experience...feelings of sadness for the loss of my sister and your mother, yet joy at seeing you all together, hearing your memories and realizing that your mom and I were cut from the exact same bolt of cloth. My girls have made many a surreptitious trip to the trash with bags of empty margarine, cottage cheese and sour cream containers that I had plans for. I trust we will forgiven for our hoarding ways, recognizing that our childhood truly required frugalness in order to survive. Unfortunately geography separated Jean and I from each other for the majority of our adult lives. Somehow I think we would have truly enjoyed the opportunity to know each other better and to spend more time together as adults. ( On the few occasions I did get to visit her she would spoil me by making the worlds best Parker House rolls!)

My heart goes out to your family. The way you have so faithfully attended to Jean and kept her memory alive is so special and I thank you for all you have done.
