     Linda Suzanne McKay, age 70, of Hecla, SD, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017, at ManorCare Heath Services in Aberdeen following a seven-year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

      Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at the mortuary, followed by a public prayer service at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

      Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 1, 2017, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 511 Main St., Hecla, SD, with Pastor Jay Haaland officiating.

      Burial follows at the Hecla Cemetery.

      Linda Suzanne McKay was born January 10, 1947, in Britton, SD to Lyle and Wilma (Krause) Tisher.  She attended high school in Hecla, where she was active in All State Girls Chorus, was named Homecoming Queen, and was also a cheerleader, “Go Rockets!”.   Following graduation, Linda attended nursing school at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND, where she graduated as an LPN. She continued her education at New Mexico State University in Carlsbad, NM, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing as an RN in 1984.  Linda worked as a nurse for 53 years.

     Linda married Allen Hovrud in 1967.  Linda and Allen had two sons, Erik and Dylan.  Later in 1984, she married Mike McKay, who brought Mallisa and Michael, his daughter and son, to the marriage.

     Linda was also known as “Suzy” when you are around her home town of Hecla or her family.  She loved singing and dancing, but most of all, she loved her family.  She was a great mother, wife, friend, and nurse.  She had so much love for her parents, siblings, and their families.

     Linda was admitted to ManorCare Health Services in Aberdeen on April 21, 2017 and remained there for physical therapy and care until her passing.

     Linda is survived by her husband, Mike; sons, Erik and Dylan Hovrud; step-daughter, Mallisa (Robin Hornseth) Heyd; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.  She is also survived by her siblings:  Ken (Mary) Tisher, Vic (Jo Niehoff) Tisher, Tim (Ruby)Tisher, Polly (Dick Henninger) Becker and Shawn (Kevin) Carlson; brother-in-law, Terry (Kathy) McKay; sister-in-law, Nicky McKay; as well as her many nieces and nephews.  

     Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Wilma Tisher; her father and mother-in-law, Milton and June McKay; her brother,  Delwyn Tisher; sisters-in-law, Shirley Tisher and Beverly Tisher; and her stepson, Michael McKay Jr.
