     Lawrence A. Brunmaier, 88, of Aberdeen, passed away Monday, January 9, 2017, at the Golden Living Center in Redfield, SD.

     His funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, with Pastor Marcia Sylvester officiating.

     A luncheon and time of fellowship will immediately follow the service at Schriver’s Memorial Fellowship Center.

     Burial, with military rites, will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen.

     Visitation at the mortuary will be 4-7 p.m., Friday, and one hour before the service on Saturday.  Friends may sign Lawrence’s online guestbook and also view his service via the live stream service link at www.schriversmemorial.com.

     Lawrence A. Brunmaier, the youngest of 11 children born to John A. and Mary Ann (Oster) Brunmaier, was born on December 3, 1928, in Bowdle, SD.  The family then moved to Roscoe, SD in 1934, where he attended school.

     Lawrence enlisted in the United States Army and served his country for 1 1/2 years before he was honorably discharged.  Upon his return, Lawrence moved to Aberdeen, where he began working for the railroad.

     Lawrence was united in marriage to Darlene V. Aho in Aberdeen.  They made Aberdeen their home and remained together until 1980, while raising their five children.  During that time, Lawrence was employed at Fish Outdoor Advertising and Cunningham Outdoor Advertising.  In 1974, Lawrence began employment with the City of Aberdeen, where he remained until the time of his retirement in 1991.

     In his younger years, Lawrence loved working with horses.  While retired, he enjoyed gardening, cooking, carpentry and fishing.  Lawrence also especially enjoyed spending Sunday afternoons watching NASCAR with his family.

     Surviving Lawrence are his children:  Rick of Aberdeen, Bryan (Marge) of Piedmont, SD and Scott (Pat), Larry (Pauline), and Patty (Kelan) Lechner, all of Aberdeen; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

     Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents; nine sisters:  Adeline, Ella, Ida, Freida, Lillian, Irene, Alma, Ann, and Edna; one brother, Milbert; and his daughter-in-law, Gwen Brunmaier.
