Kathleen Ann Deibert was born February 2, 1951, in Aberdeen, SD to Sebastian and Catherine (Werts) Deibert.
Following graduation from Roncalli High School in 1969, she attended Stewart’s School of Hairstyling in Aberdeen, then operated her own salon in Pierre, SD.
On April 5, 1975, she married Richard Light in Aberdeen, where her children Scott and Alisa were born. The family moved to Sioux Falls in 1983. In the summer of 1988, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, which progressed steadily, eventually requiring her move to a nursing home in 1997.
Kathleen enjoyed working in the yard, ice skating, sewing, baking (she was the original Scotcheroo-Maker in the family – to this day, they cannot have a Deibert gathering without Scotcheroos), and her beloved dog, “Bud”.
Survivors include her son, Scott (Johnna) Light of Sioux Falls, and daughter, Alisa (and fiancé, Ryan Weaver) Light of Wellston, OK; grandchildren, Beckett and Eden Light of Sioux Falls; brothers: Leonard (Jo Ann) Deibert of Redfield, SD, Tom Deibert of Yankton, SD, Keith (Jill) Deibert of Sioux Falls, and Charles (Kathe) Deibert of Cary, NC; and several nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Sebastian and Catherine Deibert.
