Ella Irene Bulian, 94, of Aberdeen, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018 at her home.
Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 624 North Jay Street, Aberdeen, with Pastor Samuel Bobby and Pastor Josiah Fitch officiating.
A luncheon and time of fellowship will immediately follow the service at the church fellowship hall.
Private family interment will take place at the Webster City Cemetery in Webster, SD.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. No visitation will take place at the mortuary.
Ella Irene Schwartz was born February 24, 1924 in Long Lake, SD to Andrew and Mathilda (Zelmer) Schwartz. She was raised on the family farm south of Long Lake and attended country school. Ella later moved to Leola, SD and became employed at a restaurant in town.
Ella was united in marriage to Arthur Bulian on December 4, 1945 in Leola. The couple made their home on Art’s family farm near Leola for a few years before moving to Webster, where Ella worked for a poultry business. In 1959, they moved to Aberdeen and Ella found employment at Tonner’s Piggly Wiggly and with various local restaurants, where she continued working until the age of 92. Ella and Arthur raised one son, Carl, and shared over 58 years of marriage before he passed away on September 9, 2002. She continued to reside in Aberdeen until the time of her death.
Ella was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Aberdeen. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time outdoors and working in her flower gardens. Ella was also an animal lover and always enjoyed having her dogs with her.
Grateful to have shared in Ella’s life is her son, Carl (Judy) Bulian of Aberdeen. She is also survived by two brothers, Raymond Schwartz of Rapid City, SD and Leslie Schwartz of Aberdeen.
Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; her parents, Andrew and Mathilda; three sisters: Virginia Burgard, Florence Ladner and Laverne Hoffman; and her brother, Clifford, as well as two other brothers in infancy.
Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is handling arrangements.
