Danny D. Kolb, 68, of Richmond Lake, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2019, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen.

His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, with Pastor Chris Anderson leading the service.

Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen.

A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow the interment at Schriver’s Memorial Fellowship Center.

Visitation at the mortuary will be 5-7 p.m., Monday, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Danny’s family requests that you please dress casually for his services.

Danny D. Kolb was born to Reinhold and Lucille (Shafer) Kolb on March 29, 1951, in Leola, SD.  At the age of four, Danny and his family moved to Aberdeen, SD.  He attended O.M. Tiffany and Monroe Jr. High School before graduating from Aberdeen Central High School with the Class of 1969.  In June of this year, Danny attended his 50th Class Reunion.

Danny started his career as a mechanic at Farm Power, followed by 20 years at Safety Service and 28 years at Harm’s Oil, before retiring in December of 2017.

After retirement, Danny spent many hours making metal sculptures free-hand and was always available to help others tackle small jobs.  Danny loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends.  He also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings and NASCAR.  

On May 7, 1971, Danny married Gayle Mickelson and to this union two children were born, Kellie and Ryan.  In October of 1990, he met his partner in life, Marlys (Naasz) Brick and blended his family with Jill, Jamie, and Jodi.

Grateful to have shared in Danny’s life are: Kellie (Steven) Grosz, Ryan Kolb, Marlys (Naasz) Brick, Jill (Jon) Rath, Jamie (Dale) Curran and Jodi (Tim Prater) Beck; his grandchildren:  Jordan, Mitchell, Karly, Conner, Piper, and Ava; his siblings: LaVone (Milton) Nies, Leslie Kolb, Allen (Bonnie) Kolb, Linda (Clyle) Knoll, Douglas (Karen) Kolb, David (Lori) Kolb, and Brenda (Bob) Curtis; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Danny was preceded in death by his infant son; his parents, Reinhold and Lucille; his brother, Ronald Kolb; his sister, Carol (Dolly) Geist; his sister-in-law, Celia Kolb; his brother-in-law, Harold Geist; his nephews, Mark Geist and Russell Geist; his great-nephew, Landon Kolb; and also his “best bud” and cousin, Gary Sperle.
