Daniel Jacob Stanton was born April 2nd, 1986 in Aberdeen, South Dakota, to Harry Lee and Coral LeAnn (Wohlwend) Stanton. He grew up in Aberdeen and graduated with the Class of 2004 from Aberdeen Central High School. He furthered his education at Northern State University in Aberdeen South Dakota, graduating with the highest honor Summa Cum Laude with a double major of English and Mathematics and a minor specialization in computer science. Making the dean's list on the consecutive years from 2005 to 2008.  From here he went on to attend graduate school in Brookings South Dakota at South Dakota State University studying computer science.

Daniel worked as a math tutor for Northern State University from August 2004 until his graduation. He encouraged students to learn and adapted to their needs. He enjoyed teaching; and would sometimes fill in when professors couldn't be present. Daniel also worked as a tech fellow for NSU from August of 2005 until his graduation. He worked with tech & website development and operated distance education equipment.  Daniel also worked for Daktronics in Brookings South Dakota as an intern while fulfilling His graduate work load and studies. He also worked as a Night Auditor at Days Inn in Brookings South Dakota.

When his mother fell ill, he returned to Aberdeen South Dakota to assist and give her the best care and support. His interests then turned to Art and painting.  He also spent many hours growing his own yeast cultures and developing his own recipes for bread and baked goods. He spent many hours cooking and created delicious meals. He also learned the perfect recipe for eggs that Mom loved.

Daniel was also an active musician playing Alto Saxophone, Piano, Violin, Trumpet and Guitar.  He played with the Aberdeen Municipal Band, Aberdeen Central High School band, Northern State band, Brookings Area Community Band and with his Church band.

Daniel had a true love for nature, spending many happy weekends with his friends camping and hiking. He enjoyed physical activities such as marathons, biking, disc golf and going to the gym. Daniel also picked up from his mom a love for gardening and would spend time weeding his garden, planting apple trees and taking care of flowers and plants during the Summer.

Daniel had a deep spiritual life. He was always questioning, thinking and improving upon his view of the world in his life. He was very introspective and thought often about the meaning of life and where we fit in the universe.

Glad to have shared his life are his brother and sisters: Tyson Stanton, Trudy & Jay Rossman, Tracy Stanton and her husband, Jamie Veen, Grandpa Lonnie Bartell, and two nieces, Alexa and Emily Rossman, all of Aberdeen South Dakota; as well as many cousins, extended family, and numerous friends.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Coral Stanton.
