Dale Robert Dauman was born March 27, 1934, in Milbank, SD to Walter C. and Eva M. (Giesinger) Dauman.  Dale and his parents, along with his brother, Carl F. Dauman, then moved to DeSmet, SD in 1936 and lived there until 1939, when they moved to Britton, SD.  The family settled in Sisseton, SD in 1943, and Dale graduated from Sisseton High School in 1952.  Dale enjoyed becoming a Ham Radio Operator in 1955 and communicated with others in over 150 different countries and strange locations throughout the world.

Dale joined the South Dakota National Guard following high school graduation.   He then joined the United States Air Force in January 1953, where he served his country until his honorable discharge in 1981, following a 28-year career and after attaining the rank of Chief Master Sergeant.  Dale served over 12 years overseas in Turkey, Formosa, Newfoundland, Alaska, and Vietnam.  During his assignments all over the world and the United States, Dale earned college credits while attending nine different colleges and universities.  When he retired from the Air Force, he had earned 17 different medals and commendations including the Bronze Star.

Dale married his beloved, Donna Sauer, on October 27, 1956, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Sisseton and she joined him in Alaska, where they started their married life.

In 1981, Dale became an Electronics Instructor at the Hub Area Technical School in Aberdeen and taught until May of 1994, when he retired.  Teaching high school juniors and seniors from Mellette, Warner, Frederick, Central High School, and Roncalli were some of his most memorable and satisfying achievements.

Dale was a lifetime member of the VFW, who loved and respected those who wore the uniform in defense of our country.  He was also a member of the Air Force Chiefs Group, The American Legion and the Air Force Association.

In his spare time, Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping and had great fun doing them with his friends.  Following retirement, he also purchased a motorcycle, which he greatly enjoyed riding.

Surviving Dale is his beloved wife of 63 years, Donna Marie Dauman of Aberdeen; his daughters,  Julie Ann (Richard) VandeWeerd of Bruce, SD and Leslie Jean Dauman of Pennsacola, FL; his son, Kelly Michael Dauman (Jackie) of Bruce, SD; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren, including brand new great-grandson, Gage Searl, born on July 25, 2019 to David and Ashlee.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Eva; his brother, Carl; and one granddaughter, Jessica VandeWeerd.
