Christina Marie Brubakken was born November 3, 1951, to Emil and Frieda (Horst) Brubakken in Britton, SD.  This is the area where she was raised and attended school.  Following graduation from Britton High School, Christina moved to California, but only stayed there for a short time.  Upon returning to South Dakota, she moved to Aberdeen.  Christina worked at Fischer’s Good Food before beginning what would become a 36-year career with 3M.  She retired in 2008 to babysit her grandchildren.  Christina enjoyed working part-time at Royale Casino in Aberdeen for the past five years.

Christina was united in marriage to Randall Schaeffer in Aberdeen in 1984.  Their union was blessed with two children, Jason and Stephanie.  Christina and Randall shared 6 years of marriage before he passed away in 1990.  She continued to make Aberdeen her home until the time of her death.

Christina was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Aberdeen.  In her spare time she enjoyed baking, shopping for deals, playing Canasta with her brothers and sisters, doing Sudoku puzzles, and league bowling.  Christina also enjoyed decorating for each and every holiday.  Above all, she loved her grandchildren and spent every minute she could with them.

Grateful to have shared in Christina’s life are her children, Jason Schaeffer of Eugene, Oregon and Stephanie (Keith) Huber of Aberdeen; three grandchildren:  Brody, Carmen, and Dane; five brothers:  Gordon Brubakken, Ronald (Susie) Brubakken, Richard (Janet) Brubakken, Terry Brubakken, and Steve (Ruth) Brubakken; five sisters:  Judy (Boyd) Hagenson, Peggy (Dwight) Vietmeier, Karen (Dean) Strong, Dianna (Gary) Wolforth and Tammy Chambers.
