Catherine Mary Francoli was born July 3, 1921 on a farm northwest of Aberdeen to Emil and Mary (Van Dyke-Gross) Francoli. She attended and graduated from Warner High School. Catherine went on to graduate from the Aberdeen School of Business. Catherine married Herbert Clinton on June 3, 1952 in Aberdeen. They raised three sons, Craig, Paul and Robert.
Catherine worked for EC Rhodes Real Estate as a stenographer as well as various other jobs. She eventually found a role as Coordinator of Religious Education for Sacred Heart and took great pride in her work educating young students. Catherine was involved in many organizations including Catholic Daughters, Women’s Business and Professional Club, Brown County Extension Club, 4-H and many more. She held various positions in each of these clubs and in 1989 won the “SERTOMA Service to Mankind Award for Significant and Meritorious Service to Mankind”, which she was very proud of.
Catherine enjoyed gardening, sewing, and most importantly, being with family. Catherine’s home cooked meals at family gatherings will be greatly missed by everyone who had a chance to share them. Herb and Catherine loved attending State and County Fairs, especially the Brown County Fair.
Catherine is survived by her sons: Craig Clinton, Aberdeen; Paul (Kathryn) Clinton and Robert (Barbara) Clinton, both of Sioux Falls; five grandchildren: Michael Clinton, Jacob (Sandy) Jenssen, Catie Clinton, Nathan Clinton, and Thomas Clinton; and two great-grandchildren, Jaden and Juliet Jenssen.
