Bernardette Anne Carroll, longtime resident of Aberdeen, SD, passed away February 19, 2019 at home, at the age of 75.Her wishes were to be cremated.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 25, 2019, at Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, with Father Patrick Grode officiating.
A luncheon and time of fellowship will immediately follow the service at Schriver’s Memorial Fellowship Center.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the mortuary.

Bernardette Anne McGeough was born on August 11, 1943 at Jersey City, NJ to Bernard and Eleanor (Brinck) McGeough. She attended school in Jersey City and Denver, CO before graduating from Willow Lake High School in Willow Lake, SD in 1961. Following graduation, Bernardette worked in Watertown, SD for an insurance company.
She married Russell Martin Carroll on March 3, 1962. The couple had seven children together, four daughters: Debra Anne, Jennifer Lynn, Kathleen Joy, Stephanie Jolene and three sons: Timothy Paul, Christopher John and James Russell. Over the years, the family lived in North Dakota, Nebraska, and Minnesota before settling in South Dakota.
Bernardette attended Presentation College, graduating with an Associates of Science degree in Nursing in May 1985, and worked as a registered nurse in Aberdeen for several years. Her career path then led her to real estate and she was elected President of the Aberdeen Board of Realtors in 1998. Bernardette also worked for Cendant Supplier Services and eventually retired from Verifications, Inc. in 2012.
Despite all of her professional accomplishments, Bernardette will be most remembered as a devoted wife and loving mother. She enjoyed spending her free time crocheting, reading, decorating, and shopping, always adding to her extensive collection of craft supplies and Christmas decorations. We will always remember her love of Conway Twitty, big sunglasses, and Bailey's Irish Cream.
She is survived by her husband of almost 57 years, Russell Carroll of Aberdeen, SD; children: Debra Hansen, Seattle, WA, Jennifer Hubert, Aberdeen, SD, Kathleen (Keith) Bergseth, Fargo, ND, Stephanie (Ethan) Carroll Ferkiss, Seattle, WA and James Carroll, Aberdeen, SD. Her grandchildren include, Chelsea Barton, Carly Hubert, Caiti Hubert, Finn Bergseth, Rory Bergseth, Lochlann Bergseth, Austin Carroll, and Eibhleann Carroll. Her great-grandchildren include Abigayle Barton, Decker Barton, and Evan Barton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and twin sons, Timothy Paul Carroll and Christopher John Carroll.
