Memorial services for Benhard Joseph Holzer, 63, of Aberdeen, will be 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, with Father Barry Reuwsaat officiating.  

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Benhard passed away January 26, 2017, at his son’s home in Breckenridge, MN. 

Benhard Joseph Holzer was born February 21, 1953 to Joseph and Angeline (Hummel) Holzer in Mobridge, SD.  He attended school in Timber Lake and graduated from Timber Lake High School in 1971.  He was drafted into the US Army and served in the Vietnam War from 1971 to 1973.  After his honorable discharge he returned to Aberdeen and attended Northern State College.  While in college Ben had several different jobs and played in a band called Blue Ribbon Sound.  

In the early 1980’s he moved back to Mobridge and was employed with Dustex, Ecolab and the US Postal Service.  In 1998 he moved to Wahpeton, ND where he resided for several years. Ben had five children and raised countless others.

Ben loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping with family, cooking and making people smile.  He loved music and taught all of his children to play, sing and appreciate music in general. 

Ben moved back to Aberdeen in the summer of 2009 to help his mother and father in there later years of life. 

Surviving Ben are his mother Angeline Holzer of Aberdeen, four sons, Adam Holzer of Breckenridge, MN, Andy Holzer of Aberdeen, Alexander Holzer of Albertville, MN and Avery Holzer of Aberdeen, one daughter Alyssia Holzer of Wahpeton, ND, two grandchildren, Easton and Cyrus Holzer, and four brothers, James Holzer of Mitchell, SD, Timothy (Debra) Holzer of Aberdeen, Richard (Patricia) Holzer of Eli, MN and Alvin (Debbie) Holzer of Stratford, SD

Ben was preceded in death by his father.

Ben will be deeply missed by all his family and the many lives he has influenced throughout his life.
