Arnold Alvin Mack was born to Carl and Anna (Kallas) Mack on June 25, 1923, in Leola, SD.  Arnold attended Carl Township country school and then he began working on the family farm full time.  He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Lechner in November of 1958. Arnold and Mary Ann made their home on his family farm and raised four children.  Arnold and Mary Ann loved entertaining and visiting with friends on the weekends.  Mary Ann passed away in 1990. Arnold lived on the farm until he moved into an apartment in Leola and then moving to Ipswich Care and Rehabilitation Center one year ago.

Arnold was a dedicated farmer and family man. He was very sincere about wanting to know how everybody was doing and offering help to anybody who needed it.  Arnold enjoyed hunting in his younger years. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Leola.

Arnold is survived by his children: Gary (Carole) Mack, Karen (Mark) Daniels, and Wanda (Jason) Swartz; daughter-in-law, Christi Mack; sister, Mary Ann Zimmerman; nine grandchildren: Sarah Ann (Mark) Bleecker, Carleyn (Cole) Petersen, Jesse (Sam) Daniels, Samantha (Blake) Johnson, Amanda Daniels, Tyler Severson, Chase Severson, Jason Mack, and Katy Mack; and 4 great grandchildren.

Preceding Arnold in death are his wife, Mary Ann; son, Glen; parents, Carl and Anna; and his brothers.

Arnold’s family would like to thank everybody at Ipswich Care and Rehabilitation Center and Arnold’s hospice workers for all of their loving care that they provided in his final year.
