David Kenneth Karrigan was born on July 22, 1946, to Ellsworth John and Rae Vivien (Rasmussen) Karrigan in Aberdeen, SD. Dave attended Simmons Elementary and Simmons Junior High and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School with the Class of 1964. He continued with higher education at Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD.

Dave dedicated six years to the US Army Reserves in Aberdeen and was honorably discharged in 1972. He was employed with the S.D. Highway Department, Mobil Oil of Aberdeen, Bud and Owen’s Body Shop, and Steven Lust Automotive.

Dave always had a love for cars and enjoyed all car-related activities, including collecting them and attending and watching car shows and races. He was a sports enthusiast and followed Northern University and several professional sports. The “Oldies and Goldies” were his go-to music stations. Dave kept up on local and national news and was always willing to have a conversation with anyone who had time to visit. He was a kind, gentle soul with a caring heart for others and had immense love for his family and friends. He found his “happy place” at Steven Lust Automotive, who had become his loving second family!

Dave is survived by his twin brother, Steve (Lynn) Karrigan of Aberdeen, SD; sister, Nancy (Henry) Wong of Las Vegas, NV; nieces, Kelli (Pat Joyce) Karrigan, Jami (Chris) McFarland, Danielle Wong, Laura Wong; grandnephews; one grandniece; and special cousins.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents; brother John R. Karrigan; and loving aunts, uncles, and grandparents.

Thanks to Dave’s deep affection for his nieces and nephews and his love of animals, the family wishes for the memorial gifts to go to: The Aberdeen Area Humane Society, 2511 385 Ave. S., Aberdeen, SD 57401 & The “Back Pack Program” at the Salvation Army of Aberdeen, 1003 6th Ave. SW, Aberdeen, SD 57401.
