Mass of Christian Burial for Doraine Mary Theunissen, 85, of Aberdeen, will be 2:30 p.m., with visitation one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday, January 26, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 502 2nd Avenue SE, Aberdeen with Father Shaun Haggerty officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen is in charge of arrangements.
Doraine passed away Monday, January 23, 2012, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital, Aberdeen. Blessed be her memory.
Doraine Mary Kight was born on February 3, 1926 at Aberdeen, South Dakota to Loyd and Rose (Kraft) Kight. She attended school in Aberdeen and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School with the Class of 1944.
Doraine was united in marriage to William T. Theunissen. They made their home and raised their family in Aberdeen.
Doraine was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aberdeen where she was active in the Sacred Heart Altar Society. She was also a member of the Women Of The Moose, the V.F.W. Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Doraine enjoyed cooking, embroidery, sewing, playing bridge and spending time with her dogs. The greatest joy in her life was her family.
Surviving Doraine are her daughters, Cherrie (Randy) Weisz of Bath, SD, Cindy (Thomas A.) Stephenson of San Antonio, TX, Theresa Hidalgo of Aberdeen, Anna Marie Theunissen of Portland, OR and Kristi Theunissen of Aberdeen; one sister, Virginia (Lyle) Larson of Rapid City, SD; two brothers, Dick (Dean) Kight of Carrolton, TX and Ronald (Mary) Kight of Mitchell, SD; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; children Bonnie, Terry, Jimmy "Butter", Billy and Mary Pat; one brother, Bob and one sister, Darlene.
Memorials are preferred to the Aberdeen Area Humane Society.
