Arland Edgar Solsaa

Memorial service for Arland Edgar Solsaa, 78, Aberdeen, will be 1:30pm Friday, February 18, 2011 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1620 Milwaukee Ave NE, with Pastor Jeff Whillock officiating.  Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church.

Arland passed away Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Avera St. Luke's Hospital, Aberdeen, SD.

Arland was born April 21, 1932 on the family farm to Edwin O. and Annie (Ihlen) Solsaa near Florence, SD.  They moved to Webster where he attended school and graduated from Webster High School.  He entered the Army National Guard September 1, 1950 and was discharged August 11, 1952. Arland and Evangeline "Vange" Jung were united in marriage October 28, 1956 in Eureka, SD.  They made their home in Aberdeen where Arland was employed with Aberdeen Equipment Company until 1995 as a parts manager.

Arland worded at a number of different Theaters and at Cinema 2 and Midco as a projectionist for many years.  He later worked with J & B Electric Company for several years before he became disabled from a stroke. He was an avid Oakland Raiders fan and liked to tinker with various items and work on a variety of projects around his home.

Arland was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Maynard and brother-in-law Ernest Fosheim.

Grateful for having shared in Arland's life are his wife, Evangeline "Vange" Solsaa of Aberdeen, SD, his children, Guy (Patricia) Solsaa of San Diego, CA, Leigh Solsaa and Michael (Joeleen) Solsaa both of Aberdeen, SD, his special adopted family, Tom and Pam Leonard and Joshua Leonard of Aberdeen, SD, his grandchildren, Erik (Sara) Solsaa, Bridget Solsaa, Caitline Solsaa, Jennifer (Jude) Wildman, Justin Grover and Stephanie Franzen, five great grandchildren, one sister, Eunice Fosheim and his sister in law, Violet Solsaa both of Webster, SD, and many nieces and nephews.
