Mass of Christian Burial for Mary F. Schumacher, 93, of Aberdeen, will be 10:00 am., Saturday, October 29, 2011, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 409 2nd Avenue NE, Aberdeen with Father Jordan Samson officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Aberdeen. Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen is in charge of arrangements.
Liturgical wake service will be 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 28, 2011, at the mortuary. Visitation will be 4 - 7 pm. Friday at the mortuary and one hour prior to the Mass on Saturday, at the church.
Mary passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Aberdeen Health & Rehab. Blessed be her memory.
Mary F. Malsom was born on January 21, 1918 to Peter and Katherine (Haberle) Malsom at Aberdeen, SD.
Mary was united in marriage to Michael Schumacher on May 28, 1938 in Aberdeen. Their marriage was blessed with nine children. In addition to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother, Mary found great enjoyment in being a housewife, gardening, sewing and baking the world's best apple pies. She was also an avid bowler.
Mary was a life long member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aberdeen, where she was active in St. Mary's Altar Society and St. Ann's Catholic Aid Association. She also volunteered for many years at the church bazaar and at the Roncalli Nearly New Shop.
Surviving Mary are her children: Eugene (Sharon) Schumacher of Aberdeen, SD, Kenneth (Susan) Schumacher of Eden Prairie, MN, Robert (Sherry) Schumacher of Sioux Falls, SD, Richard (Vicki) Schumacher of Crooks, SD, Patricia (David) McCauley of Peoria, IL, Janet (Gary) Roth of Fairbanks, AK, Phyllis (Frank) Walth of Sioux Falls, SD, Mary (Dennis) Ladner of Aberdeen, SD and Carol (Rich) Vincent of Aberdeen, SD; 21 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Michael; two brothers, Anton and John; one sister, Lena; one grandson Christopher Schumacher; and one granddaughter, Robin Mary Charleston.
