Mass of Christian Burial for Marie A. Schmitt, 78, of Aberdeen, will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, July 21, 2011, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 409 2nd Ave NE, Aberdeen with Fr. J. Joseph Holzhauser officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Aberdeen. Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Ave. NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.

Liturgical wake service will be 7:00 pm Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at the mortuary. Visitation will be 4-7pm Wednesday at the mortuary and one hour prior to the Mass at the church, Thursday.

Marie passed away Monday, July 18, 2011 at ManorCare Health Services in Aberdeen. Blessed be her memory.

Marie Antoinette Schmitt was born June 4, 1933 to Anton L. and Katharine (Gauer) Schmitt in Aberdeen, SD. She attended St. Mary's parochial school and was a graduate of the Aberdeen Central High School Class of 1951.

Marie was a life-long resident of Aberdeen, where she was employed at Northwestern Bell as a telephone operator and at the Americana Nursing Home where she worked as a nurses aide.

Marie was a baptized and confirmed member of St. Mary's Church in Aberdeen.

Surviving Marie are her siblings, Eugene Schmitt of Puyallup, WA, Katharine Vera Grapp of Jacksonville Beach, FL, Rosemary Flint of Sioux Falls, SD, Alice Schmitt of West St. Paul, MN, Virginia Schmitt of Hazel Green, WI, Sylvia Schmitt of Pipestone, MN, Joanne Armstrong of West St. Paul, MN, Chantelle Gladys Schmitt of Freemont, NE and Tony Schmitt of Green River, WY; and many nieces and nephews.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Joseph Schmitt and John Schmitt; and two sisters, Angela Bolan and Helen Babcock.
