Vern Rempher

Mass of Christian Burial for Vern Rempher, 72, of Spring Park, MN and formerly Aberdeen will be 10:00am Friday, February 3, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 409 2nd AVE NE, Aberdeen. Father Jordan Samson will be officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, Aberdeen is in charge of arrangements.

Liturgical wake service will be 7:00pm Thursday, February 2, 2012 at St. Mary's Church. Visitation will be 6-7pm Thursday and one hour prior to the service Friday all at the church. Friends may sign his online guest book at the bottom of the page.

Vern Rempher, loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, peacefully passed away after battling heart disease and lung cancer, at Ridgeview Medical Center, Waconia, MN Monday, January 30, 2012.

Vern was born on June 5th, 1939 to Adolph and Barbara (Malsom) Rempher in Aberdeen, SD. He married Alice Roth on February 8th, 1960. Vern and Alice began their life together on a farm outside of Mina, SD. In 1963 they moved to Aberdeen where Vern was employed at Cargill Elevator. He moved on to Aberdeen Grain Inspection in 1974 until his retirement in 2008. In 2010, Vern and Alice moved to Spring Park, MN.

One of Vern's greatest loves aside from his family was his music. He started an old time and country band with his Mom, Dad and Sister in his early teens. Over time, the band became known throughout the area as "The Vern Rempher Band." He continued to pursue his love of music until the age of 70 due to health reasons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Barbara Rempher.

He is survived by his wife Alice, Spring Park, MN, his son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Vicki Rempher, Bismarck, ND, his son Dr. Kenneth Rempher and his partner David Idleman, Baltimore, MD, his daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Randy Solberg, Mound, MN and his sister, Elaine Reis, Burnsville, MN. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Vern was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
