Beverly Northrop

Mass of Christian Burial for Beverly Northrop, 81, of Warner, SD will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 26, 2012, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 409 2nd Avenue NE, Aberdeen with Father Jordan Samson officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen. Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen is in charge of arrangements.

Liturgical wake service will be 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at the mortuary. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Wednesday at the mortuary and one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday at the church.

Beverly passed away Sunday, January 22, 2012 at her home. Blessed be her memory.

Beverly Rose Bertha was born on August 23, 1930 to Anton and Mary (Kaiser) Bertha at Selby, South Dakota. She attended St. Anthony's Parochial School and graduated from Hoven High School in 1948.

Beverly was united in marriage to George A. Northrop on December 15, 1955 at Aberdeen. They lived in Aberdeen until 1963, when they moved to Warner. Beverly was employed with Spaulding Auto and Aberdeen Finance until 1958 and then, during later years, at Aberdeen Housing Authority until retiring in 1992. She continued to make Warner her home until the time of her death.

Beverly was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aberdeen and Rieck Morgan American Legion Auxiliary of Warner. She enjoyed music, camping, reading, gardening, baking and canning. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving Beverly are her children, Nancy Hofer (Ed Mensinger) of Webster, SD, Dan (Debbie) Northrop of Aberdeen, Ken (Sandra) Northrop of Mina, SD and Penny (Wayne) Brown of Mellette, SD; nine grandchildren, Lacey Hofer, Nicholas Hofer, Danielle Pfitzer, Shannon Northrop, Dustin Northrop, Dylan Northrop, Brandii (Ryan) Frisch, Ty Brown and Logan Brown; and three great-grandchildren.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; her husband George on March 11, 2001; and one infant daughter.
