Edward G. Martin

Mass of Christian Burial for Edward G. Martin, 74, Aberdeen, will be 10:00am Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 409 3rd Ave. SE. Father Shaun Haggerty will be the Celebrant and Con-celebrating will be Edward's brother, Father Patrick Martin. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Aberdeen, SD. Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Ave. NW is in charge of arrangements.

Liturgical wake followed by 4th Degree Knights of Columbus rosary will begin at 5:30pm Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at the mortuary. Visitation will be 3-5:30pm Wednesday at the mortuary and one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday at the church.

Edward passed away Monday, December 19, 2011 at Avera St. Luke's Hospital, Aberdeen, SD. Blessed be his memory.

Edward G. Martin was born October 16, 1937 to David X. and Amanda E. (Parent) Martin in Limestone, Maine. He worked for the Brothers Of Christian Instruction in Maine from 1962 to 1977and then for the Diocese of Norwich, Connecticut. with the Ministry of the Handicap from 1977 to 1980. Ed was employed with Backous Hospital in Connecticut from 1980 until he retired in 1999. After Ed retired, he moved to Aberdeen, SD, to live near his brother, Jerry and his family.

Ed enjoyed woodworking and being active with the Knights Of Columbus, especially the K.C.'s breakfast.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and also 4th Degree Knights Of Columbus.

Edward is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and five sisters.

Surviving Ed are five brothers, Reginald Martin, Philip Martin, Paul Martin, Father Patrick Martin and Jerome "Jerry" Martin, six sisters, Marie Martin, Theresa Smith, Germaine Stile, Lorraine Martin, Patricia Kozar and Anita Vachon.

Pallbearers will be three nephews, Dave Martin, Larry Papke, Daron Rentz, and three great nephews, Cory Martin, Kyle Martin and Cody Papke.
