Violet "Vi" Lovcik

Violet "Vi" Lovcik passed away peacefully on Monday, February 6, 2012 with her children by her side at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.

Vi will be missed for her beautiful smile, great sense of humor and caring way. She was a proud woman who had a zest for life and a gift for bringing people together. Family, friends and faith were her priorities. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to all she met. Family gatherings, playing cards, bowling, traveling and volunteering at the Moose all brought great joy to her life.

Born in Aberdeen on May 13, 1929 to Albert and Emma (Ulrich) Wendt, Violet graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1947. She married Richard "Dick" Lovcik on July 6th, 1953 and together shared a happy and fulfilling life. Vi worked full time and retired from Aberdeen Equipment Company after 25 years of service.

Violet is preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Daniel, Carl, and Elmer Wendt. Blessed to have shared in her life are her children Renee (Dan) Dallich, Green Bay, WI; Randy (Kandis) Lovcik Des Peres, MO; Karen Lovcik, Scottsdale, AZ; Diana (Larry) Strom, Maplewood, MN; Dr. Ted Richard Lovcik, Madison, WI; Patti (Dr. Tim) Waterman, Aberdeen, SD. Grandchildren include Caitlin, Alison, and Steven Dallich; Rachel Lovcik; Matthew and Luke Barber; Garrett and Sydney Waterman; and Jeff, Eric and Greg Strom. She is also survived by two sisters, Virginia "Ginny" Sorenson and Vivian "Punk" Ogden both of Aberdeen, SD.

Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am Thursday February 9th, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 409 Second Avenue Northeast. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Liturgical wake service at 7:00 pm at Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 Fifth Avenue Northwest. Visitation at 5-7pm Wednesday at the Mortuary and one hour prior to the Mass on Thursday. The family prefers memorials.
