Mass of Christian Burial for Clarence L. Libis, 89, of Gilbert, Arizona, and formerly of Aberdeen, will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 12, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 409 2nd Avenue NE, Aberdeen, with Fr. J. Joseph Holzhauser officiating.
Clarence's wishes were to be cremated and inurnment of his cremated remains will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th AVE NW, Aberdeen is in charge of arrangements.
Liturgical wake service will be 5:00 p.m., Sunday, December 11, 2011 at the mortuary. Visitation will be 4-5p.m., Sunday at the mortuary and one hour prior to the Mass on Monday, at the church. Friends may sign his online guestbook at the bottom of the page.
Clarence passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Koala Care Assisted Living in Mesa, Arizona. Blessed be his memory.
Clarence L. Libis was born on July 10, 1922 to Gustave and Rosina (Schick) Libis in Eureka, SD. He grew up, attended school, and worked on the family farm in Eureka.
Clarence married Ottilia "Tillie" Schoch on November 10, 1941 in Hosmer, SD. They farmed near Eureka, until moving to Aberdeen in 1950. Clarence worked for 34 years as a truck driver for Nash Finch Company in Aberdeen before retiring in 1985.
His greatest love was for his wife, Tillie, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Clarence enjoyed dancing with his wife, playing cards with friends, playing the accordion and spending time with his family. He was a long time member of both the Moose and Eagles Lodge.
Clarence is remembered in life by his daughters, Delores (Jim) Grabenbauer of Gilbert, AZ, Susan Libis of Gilbert, AZ; his daughter-in-law, Shirley Libis of Roseville, CA; his grandchildren, Ann (Brian) Jandahl, Lisa (Chad) Anderson, Alicia (Jon) Wilkinson and Jason (Michelle) Libis; his great-grandchildren, Alexis and Justin Anderson, Kelsie, Sydney and Baylee Jandahl and Jax Libis; his brother, Floyd (Lorraine) Libis; and his sister, Lillian (Keith) Millard.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Tillie Libis; son, Jerry Libis; parents, Gustave and Rosina Libis; four sisters, Alma Lafontaine, Evelyn Bieber, Irene Beck and Lorene Ernst; and one brother Gustave Libis, Jr.
